2015 Ann Arbor Spring Training Series

Planning is underway for the 2015 Ann Arbor Spring Training Series. The series will look familiar to those who have attended in the past. We are looking to step up our clinics for new racers even further than in the past, and the schedule may have some tweaks. We'll keep you updated as we work out all the details.

Final results and Thanks!

The results for week #4 of the series and the series overall are now posted.

As we wrap up the 30th year of the Ann Arbor Spring Training Series, we'd like to thank everyone who helped make the event possible for all the racers.

Wolverine State Brewing Co.
This year's presenting sponsor, Wolverine State Brewing Co. was a huge help for us being able to change courses from the old and crumbling roadways of Runway Plaza to the new and smooth streets we had this year. For a more thorough look at what goes into putting on the race series, here are the many people and organizations that lent a hand, big or small.

Wolverine State Brewing Company, Wheels in Motion, Develo Coaching, Al McWilliams, Blaine Benson, Chris Johnson, Colin Hebert, Danny Soltan, David Palan, DeWight Plotner, Frank and Lisa Johnson, Grace Singleton, Harvey Elliott, Ian Ogden, Jarod Winn, Jason Miller, Joe Miessner, Josh Evans, Keith Boulard, Kevin Donovan, Kevin Juntunen, Kurt Schaldenbrand, Kyle schroeder, Lucas Wall, Markus Nee, Matt Johnson, Matt Raezler, Mick Jones, Officer Maddow, Patrick McEnaney, Paul Alman, Ray Barbehenn, Rebecca Wissman, Rich Stark, Sarah Demerly, Sarah Seelye, Stephen Doll, Tom Barrett, Tom Wamsley, Tom Wilk, Will Cawthorn, Winston Benedict, Zack Benet, and Zingerman's Deli.

Of course, thanks to all the riders who came out to race and take part in the clinics. We had the biggest attendance ever—it's great to see the event and sport growing!

Week 1 Results

The morning started with chilly temps but warmed nicely with the sun and lack of wind making for  great racing all day. We had a great turn out for the new course making for some good sized fields.

A big thanks to our title sponsor, Wolverine State Brewing Co. for helping making this year's race possible.

Thanks to all who pre-registered! Our volunteers really appreciate it.

Results for today's races are available as a PDF now and will be posted to the USA Cycling website early this week.

The Project J team will be coming to Ann Arbor for the Spring Training Series. So we will have a solid group of juniors racing this spring! Stick around to see the juniors race at 1:00 p.m. each week and see some of the fast and upcoming juniors go head to head.

Racing? PLEASE pre-register! Get prizes!

If you are planning to race one or all of the Ann Arbor Spring Training Series races this year, please pre-register! You can do so as late as 8:00 p.m. the evening before the race, so you can decide at nearly the last moment.
Wheels in Motion

Win prizes! If you're on the fence about pre-registering, let us help you along. We'll have weekly drawings for pre-registered riders for gift certificates to Wheels in Motion bike shop in Ann Arbor, MI. Not only does that mean you can get free stuff, but you can also see their fantastic new store!

You could also win a free consultation ($75 value) with Lucas Wall, USAC Level 1 coach at Develo Coaching. Find ways to enhance your training, improve your skills, race smarter, or dig deeper into an area of your cycling you want to improve.

2014 Registration is Open!

A (slightly) new location, a very new course, and a new timeline for online registration to make it very easy for you to register online—those are all a part of the 2014 Ann Arbor Spring Training Series!

Register now online, or you can wait until as late at 8:00 p.m. EDT the evening before each week's race. Either way, please take time to pre-register online.

We are excited about the new course as the roadway will be a huge improve on the old course that was deteriorating so badly. Look for smooth pavement, curb to curb—it should be easy to find unlike the old course. Do keep your eyes open as always as it is Michigan and we did just have a crazy winter.

Please note that week #3 of racing (April 19) is a Saturday, leaving Sunday open for people celebrating Easter but still giving you the chance to race in Michigan that weekend.

Need more information? Check out the race flyer or check out the schedule, registration, location & course, or results pages on this site.

New Course for 2014?!

We sure hope so! While the long-time course in Runway Plaza worked well for many years, the roads in recent years have deteriorated significantly despite many hours of work and hundreds (thousands?) of pounds of road patch laid by AAVC members. Robertson-Morrison has been tremendous in hosting us each year in their warm, dry building for registration, but we're aiming for a new—and nearby—location for 2014 with a much better road surface. It probably won't have the plush registration facility, but we're aiming for a smoother surface for racing this season. And if road work plans come through, we may be back at Runway Plaza in the future.

When final details are confirmed, we will post them here, and they will be reflected in the official race flyer and registration materials.
